Jumping off in 2012
The new year has started and many people have started making resolutions, goals, and predictions for this next year. Over the past couple of weeks I have been thinking through some of the things that I would like to do over the next year. I have set some goals from myself personally, spiritually, for my marriage, for my family, and for the ministry I lead.
The problem that I think a lot of people have with their goals (or maybe this is just me), is that we set the goal and then don’t do anything to try to achieve the goal. There are many times when I come up with a good idea, or something that I would like to do, but when it comes around to getting it done or doing the work I just don’t do it.
One of the things that I need to do a lot better this year is to take the jump and try something. I think one of the reasons that I don’t jump is because I am afraid to fail (I think a lot of people can identify with not wanting to fail). So, as I look at this new year ahead of me I am excited and scared about some of the goals that I am wanting to work on this year. I may fail at some of them, but I am going to take the leap!
Do you set goals for yourself? Are there times that you feel too scared to jump?
