Throw an After Party

This summer we’re trying something a little different.  Students are out of school and looking for things to do.  So, in addition to our weekly Wednesday night program we’re adding in an after party for students to hang around and build relationships with each other.  Our attendance does drop some over the summer because of camps, vacations, day trips, sports, etc., but for the students that are coming we want to do something fun for them.

This summer we’re hosting four after parties for our students.  We’re saying, “Come for worship and stay for the after party!”  These after parties don’t cost our students anything, and are a low-cost to our middle school ministry.  The after parties we have planned for this year are: A cookout and yard games (cornhole, volleyball, ladder ball, etc.), Capture the flag, slip n’ slide, and a movie night.

Take some time this summer and throw an after party for your students!

  1. I love the idea of an after party, and I think they are a blast. Unfortunately, we have discovered that right now they don’t work in our specific context, but hopefully someday we can try them again.

  2. @youthminorg I wasn’t really sure how they would go over for us either. Summer is always a slow time in our ministry, but it worked really well last night. We had our largest summer attendance ever and everyone had a great time hanging out. Thanks for adding to the discussion!
